'No Country for Old Men' wins Best Film, Best Director Oscar Print E-mail

Washington, Feb 25 (ANI): 'No Country for Old Men' directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and starring Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem swept away with the Best Film and and Best Director award at this year's Oscars.

The film is an adaptation from the well-received Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name and revolves around the themes of chance and fate and tells the story of a drug deal gone wrong and the ensuing cat-and-mouse drama as three men crisscross each other's paths in the desert landscape of 1980 West Texas.

Actor Javier Bardem took away supporting actor Oscar for his role in the film, reports Variety.

The film also won Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay,Best Picture.

It has also won the Golden Globe Awards for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Adapted Screenplay. (ANI)

French actress Marion Cotillard and English actor Daniel Day Lewis walked away with the top awards of Best Actress and Best Actor at this year's Oscars.

Cotillard has become the first French actress since 1960 to walk away with Academy award for Best actress for her portrayal of legendary chanteuse Edith Piaf in 'La Vie en Rose'.

"We'll, I'm speechless now. Thank you, life. Thank you, love. It is true, there are some angels in this city [Los Angeles]," People quoted Cotillard, as saying.

Daniel Day Lewis walked away with his third Academy Award for his role in "There Will Be Blood".

Actors Tilda Swinton in "Michael Clayton" and Javier Bardem for "No Country for Old Men" took away supporting Oscar awards.

"Whoa, this is pretty amazing. I have to speak fast here, man," said Bardem, while receiving the trophy for Best Supporting Actor.
