Kohima, Mar 7 (ANI): Re-polling began in thirty-five polling stations in Nagaland today amidst tight security.

All necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the poll at seven districts of Nagaland.

"Due to non-availability of vehicles, polling could not be held at 14 booths of Zunheboto district as officials failed to reach polling stations," said officials at Chief Electoral Officer said.

Due to the complaints of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) damage, prevention of voters and other irregularities, Election Commission recommended re-poll in other stations.

To decide the fate of 218 candidates, including four women, contesting 60 Assembly seats 85 per cent votes were cast on Wednesday.

The main contest is between the Nagaland People's Front (NPF) and the Congress. While the NPF is contesting 56 seats, the Congress is contesting all the 60 seats.

The BJP and the NCP have fielded their candidates in 23 and 8 seats, respectively.

Prominent leaders seeking re-election include two former chief ministers Neiphiu Rio (NPF) and K L Chishi (Congress). CLP leader I. Imkong will contest from Jamgpetkong constituency in Mokokchung District against NPF candidate Dr I Longri. (ANI)
