Mukhtar, Fahim stake claim to prime minister's slot PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 09 March 2008
Islamabad, Mar.9 (ANI): Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leaders Makhdoom Amin Fahim and Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar have reportedly staked their claim to become Pakistan's next Prime Minister.

Ahmad Mukhtar told The News that his credentials are very strong and he tops among the PPP candidates from Punjab for the top slot.

"I have defeated Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, which has broken the back of the PML-Q," Mukhtar told the paper.

He said if the PPP goes for a prime minister candidate from Punjab, for which there is a strong possibility, he tops all other names coming in the media.

He maintained that the party is close to announcing the next prime minister will be from Punjab.

Amin Fahim told reporters that he is the strongest candidate for the top slot and his name should be announced.

He claimed that the people of the country wanted to see him as prime minister and dishonoring people's wishes would harm the party.

Fahim also warned that if name was not announced for the post of prime minister, he reserved the right to choose his own way, adding that he had many options in his mind that did not want to disclose them. (ANI)
