PPP, PML-N for reinstatement of deposed judges within 30 days of govt formation Print E-mail
Sunday, 09 March 2008
Bhurban, Mar 9 (ANI): The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday agreed to reinstate the deposed judges within 30 days of the government formation in the country.

Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif signed the joint declaration named "PPP-PML-N summit declaration Murree" on forming a coalition government.

Both leaders have urged President Pervez Musharraf to convene parliament without any delay.

"The coalition partners PPP and PML-N undertake to form coalition partnership together for a democratic Pakistan for translating the mandate given by the people of Pakistan to the democratic forces through the February 18 elections," Sharif said reading out from the joint declaration.

"The leadership was of the firm opinion that the coalition partners are ready to form the governments, and the national and provincial assemblies should be convened immediately," the Dawn quoted Sharif, as saying.

Earlier, during his meeting with Zardari, Sharif has turned down an offer from Zardari to be the prime minister, Geo News channel quoted sources as saying.

Sharif told Zardari that the PPP had the right to nominate the candidate for premiership as it had emerged the largest party.

Any prime ministerial candidate chosen by the PPP, irrespective of whether he was from Sindh or Punjab province, would be acceptable to the PML-N, the sources quoted Sharif as saying. (ANI)
