Sunday, 27 April 2008

London, April 26 (ANI): British singer Amy Winehouse has spent the night in custody, following her arrest on suspicion of assault.

The troubled singer voluntarily attended a central London police station by appointment to be questioned over an alleged incident, which happened in the early hours of the morning of April 23, reports BBC.

According to a 38-year-old man, a woman assaulted him in the Chalk Farm area of north London, police said.

Police also revealed that Winehouse was kept in the cells overnight after being found "in no fit state" to be questioned.

The singer is alleged to have headbutted a 38-year-old man who tried to help her hail a taxi outside a bar in Chalk Farm, north London, after partying at the venue with a group of friends. (ANI)
