Murderer of Budhia ex-coach arrested in Goa PDF Print E-mail

Panaji, May 5 (ANI): The suspect reported to be behind the murder of child prodigy Budhia Singh's former coach Biranchi Das has been arrested in Goa.


 "We have arrested Raja alias Sandeep Acharya, the prime accused and two of his associates, Saroj Sahu and Akshaya Behra in Goa. We are sending a police party to take Acharya to Orissa," Orissa Police Commissioner Binoy Mehra said.

The Orissa police claimed to have gathered credible evidence against him.

Acharya, who is facing over 30 cases of extortion, murder and kidnapping, had been on the run since Biranchi's murder on April 13 after the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against him by the Orissa Police.

Das was shot dead outside a judo centre in Bhubaneswar.

Chhagla who had claimed to be one of Das' killers, surrendered to the police in Bhopal on April 22.

Orissa Police was preparing to confiscate Acharya's properties. (ANI)
