South Asia University to be reality by 2010 Print E-mail

New Delhi, May 26 (ANI): In what is termed as South Asia's most ambitious project and manifestation of SAARC reaching implementation stage, the South Asia university will be reality by 2010.

This will be the first project, which will be undertaken by the SAARC nations collectively. Located in New Delhi, the unique university will also have linked campuses in other member nations of SAARC.  

This university in New Delhi will boast nearly 25000 students from all the SAARC member states.

Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee while unveiling the plaque of this unique project said: "We hope that students passing out from this university will become the assets of the region and will shape up a better and peaceful South Asia."

Former Vice Chancellor of Jawahar Lal Nehru University AC chadha is designated as the CEO of this ambitious project.

The idea of South Asia University is the bran child of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who proposed this idea during the 13th SAARC summit in Dhaka and it is during the last summit in New Delhi head of states signed an agreement to build this centre of knowledge. (ANI)
