Guy Ritchie's mom denies Madonna divorce rumours PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 30 June 2008

New York, June 30 (ANI): Guy Ritchie's mother has dismissed rumours that her son and Madonna are considering a split, insisting that reports of meetings with high-powered divorce lawyers are "total fiction."

Last week, Madonna, 49, was reported to have met with celebrity divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton, who most recently represented Sir Paul McCartney in his divorce proceedings against Heather Mills.

Amber Leighton told Britain's Daily Mail that there has been "no conversation about divorce because there is no divorce."

Leighton also described reports that the couple have spoken to divorce lawyers as "works of fiction."

"They are no different to most other couples. We all know that being together can be hard sometimes and marriages are not always a bed of roses," the New York Daily News quoted her, as telling the newspaper.

Leighton said she now felt compelled to speak publicly because a week's worth of divorce speculation in the press had "pained her".

The couple's seven-year marriage is in crisis over homesick Madonna's desire to return permanently to New York.

Ritchie is said to have flown to New York, where Madonna is currently touring with her kids, to make a last-ditch effort to save their marriage. (ANI)
