By Yogesh Jodhpur, July 6 (ANI): A middle-age man in Jodhpur left a large number of onlookers dumbstruck when he entered a large box while being chained from head to toe to perform a daredevil stunt as a magic trick.
The box was then pushed into a shallow pond while Karan's hands were handcuffed and the legs put in fetters.
Hundreds of people on Thursday (June 3) had converged here to watch Karan's daredevil stunt, which is not even witnessed in Bollywood films these days. Everyone cheered outside, as the box was being pushed down the pond.
But Karan amazed all after one minute's nail-biting wait by coming out unhurt from the 17-feet deep pond. Before one could utter Abra-ca-dabra, Karan had managed to unlock himself and emerge out of the box.
Karan later said that he intended to revive the charm of magic that he contends to be an art to entertain people and a part of Indian tradition. He doesn't mind putting his life at risk for such stunts, as it is the main source of livelihood for his family.
"Magic is fading away with each passing day and is not encouraged inspite of it being a part of our traditional heritage. We want to show to the people through this medium that magic is still alive and people still have interest in magic. We live to perform this and may also die performing it some day. It is a hunger for identity, fame and art," said Karan, the middle-aged magician.
Karan's wife has always supported him and showed faith in his talent to perform such daredevil feats.
As the large box containing Karan in it was lowered into the pond, she waited outside with all faith and prayers on her lips. She went hurray when her husband emerged out of the box like a hero of any film.
"He knows he has to run his house by taking such risks and putting life at stake. I never ask him to reveal his tricks behind the magic he performs. He wants to earn fame in the world. We do pray for him and the whole family is dependant on him. I hope he performs better stunts in life," said Karan's wife. (ANI)
