Ferozepur (Punjab), July 14 (ANI): Anti-India tirade seems to be Pakistan Radio’s signature tune.
Its Punjabi Darbar programme has now alleged that Sikhs in India neither have religious freedom nor do they get justice under Indian laws.
This latest “lie” has left residents living in areas close to the border dividing India and Pakistan quite anguished.
A majority of them said such untruths have the potential of spreading disharmony within the community.
Take the village of Khuian Sarwar in East Punjab’s Ferozepur District, where people have forthrightly condemned Pakistan Radio's propagandist programme.
They claim that Sikhs are living happily along with members of other communities
Gauri Shankar, a Sikh, said: "Our neighbouring country Pakistan is promoting propaganda against India, especially in Punjab.
Pakistan Radio says the impact of other communities is on the rise at the cost Sikhs, but the reality is just the opposite of this.
"As far as justice is concerned, Sikhs have been occupying various top posts like that of the Prime Minister, President's and chiefs of the armed forces. The present Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, is also a Sikh. Also, Sikhs are free to obey their religion, culture and work anywhere in India. Sikhs are enjoying total economic and social freedom," claimed Shankar.
"In Punjab, people of all religions like Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs are living peacefully in brotherhood. In Punjab, development is better than the rest of the country. This development is not only in the field of agriculture, but also in all other sectors like industry etc. Development is number one in Punjab in comparison to other states," he added.
Pal Singh, another Sikh farmer, said: "These propagandas are just part of Pakistan's provoking strategies. In Punjab everything is fine. We are not having any problem and sorrows. No one is bothering Sikhs in Punjab or in any part of the country." (ANI)
